Common Waitlist Questions

Your waitlist number may increase as a result of an appeal that placed someone in a higher priority category than you, thus they would be placed ahead of you on the waitlist.

Your waitlist number may decrease as students are awarded scholarships that are in front of you, and you move closer to potentially getting awarded a scholarship.

The waitlist number for an application in priority category 1 may increase as a result of the following scenario:

An application ahead of them has multiple children on their application, one of which was determined ineligible. Parent appeals, and student is determined eligible. Our system places all students from the same household together. Therefore, that reinstated student would take a waitlist number alongside their siblings, and potentially ahead of other Tier 1 families.

For confidentiality reasons, we do not provide specific details on the reason for the change in waitlist numbers.

Looking to withdraw from the Utah fits all program?

If you have made the decision to decline the scholarship for your student, our customer support team will assist you with the process of withdrawing your student’s application. Once complete, this is not a reversible or appealable decision, and your application will not be reinstated during this school year.

Should you wish to participate in the future, you are welcome to apply during the 2025-26 application window. Please reach our customer support team at support@ufascholarship.com or 385-503-8327 for further questions or to withdraw your student from the program.

Enrollment Preference Categories for 2025-2026 Academic Year UFA Scholarship Applicants

According to Utah statute, preference for the UFA Scholarships will be awarded using the order of preference outlined in Utah Code.

Enrollment Preference Categories

The law gives an order preference to eligible students for scholarship awards (Utah Code 53F-6-402). For the 2025-2026 school year, there are five levels of preference:

  • Eligible students awarded and used Utah Fits All Scholarship funds during the 2024-2025 academic school year.
  • New eligible student applicants who did not use a scholarship account in the 2024-25 school year and who meet a family income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
  • New eligible student applicants who are a sibling of an eligible scholarship student who uses a scholarship account at the time the incoming sibling applies for a scholarship account; or new eligible student applicants who are a sibling of an eligible 2024-25 scholarship student who used a scholarship account.
  • An eligible student who did not use a scholarship account in the previous school year; and with a family income between 200%-555% of the FPL.
  • Last, it is open to all Utah K-12 students regardless of family income.

*Add $11,000 for the 200% FPL for each person in household over 8 persons

**Add $30,525 for the 555% FPL for each person in household over 8 persons
